Measurement Uncertainty

Measurement Uncertainty

Target Learners – Testing and Calibration Laboratory’s Managers, Authorized Signatories, Scientists, Analysts etc.

Description of the course – Measurements are always made for a reason. Whenever a measurement is made there will always be some uncertainty about the result due to unavoidable errors in the measurement process. Knowledge of the uncertainty associated with measurement results allow for a judgement to be made as to whether the data is likely to be ‘fit’ for the purpose or not. This course will provide an understanding of basics of measurement uncertainty.

Structure of the course – Classroom training with PowerPoint presentations including Concept of Accuracy, Precision, Measurement Uncertainty, Interpretation of Measurement Uncertainty, Estimation of MU (Components having same units and different units).

 Learning Outcomes – After the successful completion of the course, you will be having the knowledge of and skill to:

  • Understand the measurement uncertainty and its need.
  • Understand the calculation & estimation of measurement uncertainty.
  • Understand identification and evaluation of the components in contributing to uncertainty.

What's included?

  • Learning materials;
  • Tea, coffee and lunch;
  • Certificate of participation.
