Description of the course – Metrology, Standardization and Conformity assessment are three pillars of sustainable development of a country. These three pillars are interdependent and vital for everyone and for the strengthening of quality infrastructure in the country. Metrology includes the work done by the National Metrological Institute (i.e. NPL in India) and International treaties whereas standardization includes the work done by a National Standard body (i.e. BIS in India) and the international standard writing bodies. Conformity Assessment plays pivotal role in building confidence for sustainable development and trade. In India NABL is the accreditation body which accredits the conformity assessment bodies which in turn do the task of conformity assessment.
